Pokot — the heart of our work

POM Harvesters International Kenya Pokot serves and walks with the Pokot community across West Pokot and Baringo counties.

Who are the Pokot?

The Pokot are a Kalenjin community whose homeland stretches across West Pokot and Baringo counties in Kenya, and into parts of eastern Uganda. Long a pastoralist people, they carry a rich heritage of language, song and resilience shaped by semi-arid plains, river valleys and the highland ridges of the Cherangani hills.

Today Pokot families face pressures from prolonged drought, limited access to clean water, and the effects of historical marginalisation. Alongside these challenges is a strong hope: young leaders, faithful churches, and communities eager to build a dignified future.
